All I Have To Do Now Is Wait...

Today I planted everything that I bought on Wednesday, plus some carrots and leaf lettuce from the seeds that I bought 2 years ago. I covered everything except the areas planted with seeds with cedar mulch. I used grass clippings instead of cedar in the back corner behind the tomatoes. We'll see how that turns out. I had to go back to Loblaws to get another bag of cedar mulch and a pot for Tiny Tim. While I was there, I also bought a hose nozzle.

Here are a couple of shots from my upstairs window (I guess I should have closed the umbrella):

...and a couple of shots from ground level (kneeling in the window well):

Chives, Oregano, Parsley, Basil, Rosemary, Red Onions and Tiny Tim in the clay pot:

English Cucumbers, Spaghetti Squash and Musk Melon (Cantaloupe):

Cayenne, Jalapeno, Hot Banana and 2 Orange Bell Peppers, and Red and Yellow Cherry Tomatoes (You can see where I used grass clippings as mulch in the back corner instead of cedar):

Green Beans on the left, Peas at the back, Carrots front left and Lettuce front right. I left room to plant more lettuce in a few weeks to see if I can spread out my harvest a bit.

Here are a bunch of photos of the Forget-Me-Nots that I got from Gram's yard. When I planted these last year, they were four small (3" diameter) plants and they didn't bloom. I guess they're making up for it this year.

Like the title of this post says, all I have to do now is wait. Damn, I'm already hungry.

Hopefully I'll remember to take more photos throughout the summer. ;-)

Supplies!!!

I went to Loblaws and bought:

- 3 bags of leaf compost
- 1 bag of cedar mulch
- Rosemary
- Basil
- Flat Leaf Parsley
- English Cucumbers
- Spaghetti Squash
- Cantaloupe
- Cayenne Peppers
- Jalapeno Peppers
- Hot Banana Peppers
- Orange Bell Peppers
- Red Cherry Tomatoes
- Yellow Cherry Tomatoes
- Tiny Tim Tomatoes
- Green Bean Seeds
- Pea Seeds

I moved my Chives, Oregano and Red Onions over to the left side nearest the gate and then I spread the compost and a bit of bone meal that Dale gave me throughout the gardden and mixed everything in. It's starting to get dark so I'll do the rest another day.

Starting Summer 2006

Saturday April 29 was a beautiful sunny day so I pulled weeds and turned over the earth in the garden.

Plants left from last year:
- Oregano (perenial)
- Chives (perenial)
- Four red onions (the onions that got broken/cut last year seem to have come up on their own this year)
- Two plants that may or may not be tomatoes (The Pa tells me they are not tomatoes, although one of them might be strawberries)

Still too early to consider planting anything yet. We had a pretty heavy frost just 4 days earlier. In a few more weeks I'll add a couple of bags of manure/compost and I'll buy some plants and seeds.
