May Run 2007 - Driftwood

Went to Driftwood Provincial Park for the May long weekend this year. I haven't been tent camping in a couple of years so I was really looking forward to this. I was not disappointed. The weather was fantastic, there were hardly any bugs and everyone had a blast.

I got to the site with PatP around supper time on Friday. Louis, MarcD, Sarah, MarcM, Julia and Sean were already there. Pierre and PatB showed up later on. The site was perfect for us. Here's a panoramic view. Unfortunately my free photo hosting site shrinks the photo down so it's not very impressive.

We got set up and then it was supper time. Whoa! Slow down Marc!

...and then night fell and there was much rejoicing.

Even though it was quite nice out, the temperature did drop a little after dark and we didn't want to catch cold, so we lit a small fire for warmth. Shhh... Don't tell Al Gore about the pretty colours in there.

Hey! There's the fire pit. I knew it was in there somewhere.

That night I introduced the gang to Yucaflush. Some of you may recognize this from previous posts from my Father's Day fishing trips. I had to make half-size batches because I didn't have a big enough jar but that just meant that I had enough for the next night too.

Ahh... The most important part of any camping trip. Breakfast.

Perking coffee for that many people with our little camping coffee pots always takes too long and takes up valuable camp stove space so PatP went to Deep River to pick up Tim Horton's. Damn straight we're roughing it! It's not like he went to Starbucks!

Anyway, believe it or not, none of us had heart attacks that day.

Fruit? Eugh, that shit'll kill ya.

That's more like it.

Saturday afternoon was warm and sunny and we spent most of the day in the shade.

Hey MarcD! How's the leftover bacon?

I am smiling. Screw off.

Ooohhh... Aaahhh...

Saturday night.

Sunday morning, pack up, pick up and we were on the road by 10:15am. Turned out to be a good choice since it rained all the way home.

Until next year...
