Annual Father's Day Fishing Trip

My Dad has been going fishing with his buddies on the May Long Weekend for as long as I can remember. A few years back, the guys got fed up with the crappy weather and decided to move their weekend to June. Now it's an annual Father's Day Weekend and I start looking forward to next year as soon as I leave.

As we have for the past few years, we stayed at the White Pine Lodge between Timmins and Folyet. The camp is on a series of interconnected lakes, Slate Rock Lake, Keith Lake and White Duck Lake. As well there are a number of other places to fish nearby like the Groundhog River and Scorch Lake.

Anyway, here are some photos from the weekend. The first few shots are from Keith Lake on Friday. It was warm and rainny all day. We got soaked to the ass but caught fish pretty much non-stop all day. The size of the fish was nothing to write home about but there were plenty of them.

We got back to camp about the same time as Jim and Ray who had been on the Groundhog. They did quite well and caught much larger fish. I didn't get photos of anyone elses fish but I think everyone limited out on Friday which made for a tasty and plentiful supper on Saturday at the annual Father's Day Fish Fry ...and no lard this year!

Friday night was Yuccaflush night which has also become tradition. Citrus fruits, vodka, sugar and ice go into a large jar and tasty goodness comes out. Yummy.

Saturday we decided to go under the other train tressle to Slate Rock Lake. Much better weather but much worser fishing. We caught Pike all day but the Walleye were pretty scarce.

Sunday is breakfast, pack and head home. Everyone left at different times and some guys did a bit more fishing so we didn't manage to get a group photo this year. Like I said before, I can't wait to do it all again next year.
