Back to the Shack at Petrack Islack

Headed out to Petrie Island again this Saturday with Louis and Pat, this time in the morning, around 7:30. Another great day for ice fishing. The wind was pretty crisp but if you could stay out of it, the actual temperature was pretty nice. Jeff came by for about an hour, late morning to drop of some fire wood that he brought from his cottage. He was planning on coming back out with his kids in the evening but we left before that, around 6:00. We were beat.

The fishing was pretty good. We caught seven Pike, all around 2 lbs and one 7.5 lb Pike. Pat caught a pan fish near the end of the day too.

The neighbours showed up sometime in the afternoon and I think they were a little jealous of our luck, especially when we told them that we were throwing everything back. Oh well, eventually they started catching panfish.

I pulled up the first fish and made Louis take the hook out but he couldn't do it so I had to get slimy afterall.

Here's a view looking out towards "The Village". There are a ton of shacks out here and the ice road is even plowed. This view only shows a fraction of the shacks off in the distance.

Here's my 7.5 pounder. When I pulled it up through the ice, it was all mouth, completely filling the hole. Pat used the slush spoon handle as a gaff to pull this bad boy out. I would have kept it if we were in the west end instead of the east.

Pat fishing. Here's another one of the 2 pounders. Good job.

It was damn hot in there.

How's the Bailey's Louis?

Hater.

Toé té juste pas gentil.

If you could read better than Jacques, you'd see that we caught 7 small pike and 1 larger pike for a total of 8.

I think I'll call you LGCR.
