I spent the rest of the week fishing at the cottage with my folks. Even managed to squeeze in a nine at Abitibi.
Friday was way too hot. Dad and I fished Keith and came back empty handed. Just a couple of small Pike.
We didn't have any yucaflush to cool us off this year so measures were drastic.

Saturday was more overcast and it cooled down a bit. A few minutes of rain in the morning even had us put our raincoats on to keep warm.

We fished all day and finally found a shallow weedbed around 3:30. We had our limit by 5:00. No monsters but I don't think there are any in Keith.

The rest of the gang was spread all over various other lakes and rivers in the area. They caught bigger fish, but not as many, and they had to work a lot harder.

Yummy.

I wish there was something in this photo to show scale. The legspan on this guy was around 3".

One of Mom's white roses.

Fished a few times at the cottage. Monday afternoon wasn't meant to be. Dad and I went out with 4 dozen expensive store-bought minnows, fished for a couple of hours, and came back to the cottage for lunch with a 3lb Walleye on our chain. I pulled the minnow bucket out of the water and the bottom fell out. We lost all but two minnows. Went over to grab the fish, and the clip had opened, no fish on the chain.
We went to put the minnow trap in and bummed a few minnows from a neighbour to keep us busy for the rest of the afternoon, but nothing.
Tuesday we fished some more, but didn't catch anything worth keeping.
Wednesday we golfed and then fished some more. This time we caught some nice size Walleye. Mom caught the two bigger ones and I caught the other.

Mom went in to start supper and Dad and I went back out. No more Walleye but I caught a nice Pike.
