Last Minute Trip to Roch's Camp

So I'm sitting at work on a gloomy Friday afternoon, discouraged about the amount of work that I have to do, trying to decide how late I should stay. Do I have to come in to work on Sunday? Then Pat calls. "The boys are going up to Roch's camp for the weekend. I'm leaving as soon as they get to my place. If you want to go, call Louis and get him to pick you up." Half an hour later, I was packed and waiting for Louis to show up.

It rained/drizzled pretty much all night Friday but we stood around the fire in our rain suits anyway. A good time was had by all.

One thing led to another and we kinda slept-in on Saturday morning. Oh well, it's cold and overcast anyway.

We finally ended up fishing around lunchtime and Ron won First Fish on his first and only cast of the day. Too bad it was a tiny out-of-season Bass. Pat caught a nice 1.25lb Walleye (yummy) and we all brought in a few other small Bass and the odd Channel Cat. Then it happened. Roch pulled in an 8lb Walleye! We took some photos, threw it back and 2 minutes later, I caught a 5.5lb Walleye! My largest Walleye ever! (I don't have any photos of my fish here but here's a link to a photo of it) Since we had already thrown back Roch's monster, we didn't feel too badly about keeping mine. You can see his fate later on in these photos.

We weren't smart enough to bring lunch/supper with us so we headed home early. We hadn't caught anything for awhile anyway. Saturday night was much mellower than Friday night.

Louis and Ron...

Sunday morning. Slept-in again. Aren't we a motivated bunch. At least breakfast was good.

Time to clean up and head home :-(

Well boys, that was a blast. Can't wait to do it again.
